It was reported that six Straits Settlement newspapers, together with a handful of Straits Settlement coins were placed in the time capsule. The six newspapers were published on the 31st of March 1937, by the Straits Times, Free Press, Malaya Tribune, Warta Malaya and Sin Chew Jit Poh. Look at your screen now to see some of the headlines. They give a flavour of life at the time, and include stories like the re-arming of Britain, countering Germany’s re-armament programme and the abolishment of female slaves known as Mui Tsai.
