The Everyday Vinyl is a public art vinyl installation that ruminates on the hyperobject* of plastic, concentrating in particular on the ubiquitous vinyl. In re-appropriating and collaging unwanted vinyl, the resulting tapestry prolongs the lifespan of these otherwise single-use disposable materials and reimagines them as art.
*”Hyperobject” is a term coined by environmental philosopher Timothy Morton, referring to entities that exist in a manner too vast and abstract for our comprehension.
