Festival Directors’ Message
In the past year of isolation and disruption, art has kept us company – enabling us to move freely around in fictional worlds, but also grounding us to pause and reflect on the reality of the present.
Through it all, artists continue to courageously make art to impact the world and prompting us to look at things differently. This pursuit of new perspectives and state of mind informs this year’s festival theme – New Ways of Seeing, Thinking, and Being.
Through the over 60 compelling programmes offered over an extended 3-week period, we encourage our audiences to expand our notions of how various artworks can be explored and imagined in new spaces and through technological innovations. The festival is also dedicated to new ideas and spotlighting diverse perspectives and voices less represented through youth mentorship programmes and new commissions. Our online programmes ensures everyone is able to engage in the festivities whenever and wherever.
We hope that the different exhibitions and programmes, both online and onsite, presented by Asian Civilisations Museum, Capitol Singapore, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Funan, National Gallery Singapore, National Library Board, Singapore Symphony Group and The Arts House during Light to Night 2022, will inspire you to discover new perspectives.
We welcome you to journey and share with us what is in progress for you, so that we may collectively imagine how we may move forward together.
