HOLIDAY SPACE (2020) | Augmented Reality
In the summer of 2020, Acute Art debuted Holiday Space, a free new AR work by KAWS. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Companion–an icon universally associated with the artist’s work–KAWS launched this iconic figure into space. Using a sounding balloon, the KAWS:HOLIDAY SPACE sculpture was sent up 41.5km into the stratosphere, and took a two-hour zero gravity walk before returning to Earth.
COMPANION (EXPANDED) (2020) | Augmented Reality
COMPANION (EXPANDED) was launched as a global AR exhibition in early 2020 and demonstrates the enormous potential of the augmented reality. It conveys a sense of mischievous humor through the juxtaposition of physical and virtual worlds.
KAWS engages audiences beyond the museums and galleries in which he regularly exhibits. His prolific body of work straddles the worlds of art and design to include paintings, murals, graphic and product design, street art, large-scale sculptures, and now augmented reality.
