Teo Eng Seng: Living the Life
Teo Eng Seng: Living the Life is a celebration of an artist whose life and practice are defined by an openness and curiosity, and who continues to inspire and challenge us today. With their riotous compositions and vivid colours, Teo’s works invite us to see life in new ways, to experience the immediacy and spontaneity of everyday reality, and to embrace the beauty of imperfection.
An innovative and prolific artist, Teo Eng Seng (1938–) played a leading role in the development and advocacy of the Singapore art scene. His artistic style stems from an emotive resonance with the broader environment in which he has lived, worked and taught. He is most recognised for his invention of “paperdyesculp”—dyed papier-mâché shaped into artworks. Teo is a recipient of the Cultural Medallion in 1986 for his contributions to visual arts and services to art education.
