Ping Pong Go-Round

9 Feb–30 Jun Mon–Sun, 10am–7pm
Ping Pong Go-Round was first presented in Melbourne as part of a series of exhibitions organised by artist and curator Ryszard Wasko which featured projects responding to various sites. Turning the ping pong table into a circular that mimics an international conference setting, the usual linear nature of the game shifts into one that embraces multiple participants and multi-directional exchange. The power dynamic between the players constantly shifts, introducing infinite possibilities in the relationships formed between the players.

Lee Wen was a Singaporean artist whose practice largely advocates for “anti-disciplinary” forms of artmaking. This includes performance art, which became his primary medium of expression. Largely known for his Yellow Man Series, many of Lee Wen’s art centres around sociopolitical commentary concerned with issues such as his identity as an Asian man and globalisation. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale and the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art in Brisbane, Australia.
