Introduction to Building History Multimedia Tour

Hello and welcome to the Building History Multimedia Tour for the National Gallery Singapore. On this tour you will walk through the two buildings – the City Hall and former Supreme Court buildings — which together form the City Hall Wing and the former Supreme Court Wing of the National Gallery Singapore. On your journey, you will hear the history and stories of people who were once connected to the buildings. Find a quiet place for a moment to learn about the tour. On your screen you will see an image, and below that, an audio track that you can start, pause, fast forward or rewind as you like. Under the audio track and to the right you can tap the page icon to see the text of the audio. And at the bottom of the page, where appropriate you may see related media files. This tour presents 11 main stops in sequence. We will help you navigate from one to the next, and you will be able to use the onboard app navigation system if you prefer. After some main stops there are additional ‘mini’-stops, which contain more information on the same topic, and which you can listen to at anytime you like. We hope you will enjoy your tour of the buildings and history of this unique place. Let’s get started. Wherever you are coming from, make your way to Level Two of the City Hall Building. Once there, you want to start at the front of the building. In front of you, you will see large windows that look out onto the open green field on one side, with a grand marble staircase behind you. You should see a building history marker panel in the vicinity, and your map should help you get there.
