National Gallery Singapore Partners Leading Arts Institutions

The National Gallery Singapore announced its partnership with National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) in a collaborative exhibition for the new China Cultural Centre, Singapore. The exhibition, titled <<梦笔新境:纪念中新两国建交25 周年美术作品展>>, will showcase some 50 loaned works from China and Singapore. The exhibition aims to commemorate 25 years of diplomacy relations between China and Singapore, as well as to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Singapore’s independence and the opening of the new China Cultural Centre. President Xi Jinping, together with Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, will officiate the opening of the China Cultural Centre on 7 November 2015.
In addition, the National Gallery will be holding a special exhibition ‘Wu Guanzhong: Beauty Beyond Form’ which opens to the public on 26 Nov 2015. This show includes 22 artworks on loan from five major museums – National Art Museum of China, China Art Museum, Shanghai, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Zhejiang Art Museum and Nanjing Museum. Comprising over 80 works, the exhibition offers a comprehensive insight into Wu Guanzhong’s prolific career, and chronicles the evolution of his style over five decades.
Senior Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth, Ms Sim Ann, hosted China’s Minister of Culture Mr Luo Shugang for a tour of the Gallery today, signalling strong support for the collaboration between the museums from the two countries. Many of the loaned artworks will be on display for the first time in Singapore.

The Gallery’s strong partnerships with renowned global arts institutions, including those from China, will take the experience of visiting the Gallery to a whole new level,” said Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Ms Sim Ann.

The artworks are expected to arrive in Singapore this month and will be presented at the Gallery for public viewing from 26 November 2015.
