Siapa Kita?
Siapa Kita? is an interactive audio promenade theatre work, which explores Malay identity through artworks found in the DBS galleries. With a focus on Malay representations and Malay artists, this work investigates the “Malay Self” in Singapore art since the 19th century. This work is produced in collaboration with Teater Ekamatra.
Alfian is the Resident Playwright of Wild Rice. He has been nominated at the Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards for Best Original Script 11 times, and has received the award four times. His plays with Wild Rice include HOTEL (with Marcia Vanderstraaten), The Asian Boys Trilogy, CoolingOff Day, The Optic Trilogy and Homesick. He was the winner of the Golden Point Award for Poetry and the National Arts Council Young Artist Award for Literature in 2001. His publications include Collected Plays One, Two and Three; poetry collections One Fierce Hour, A History of Amnesia and The Invisible Manuscript; and short story collections Corridor and Malay Sketches.
Irfan Kasban (b. 1987) is a multi-disciplinary artist who has worked on more than 100 productions in various artistic capacities – as a playwright, director, performer, designer. His practice is anchored by his fascination with human nature, his curiosity about the psychological complexity of people as individuals and in society. He contributes to the local arts community by serving as Associate Artist at Teater Ekamatra (2011-present), and The Theatre Practice (2019).
Nabilah Said is a playwright, critic, poet and the editor of arts media website, ArtsEquator. Her plays have been staged in Singapore and London. She is the founder of Main Tulis Group, a collective of playwrights creating work in Malay and English. In 2018, she co-founded Lazy Native, an international theatre collective that champions Southeast Asian narratives. Nabilah was the artist-in-residence for Teater Ekamatra from 2016 to 2017. In 2015, she was chosen by the National Arts Council to represent Singapore for the Southeast Asia Literary Council drama retreat held in Indonesia. She was selected for the Boiler Room incubation programme cycle 2015 at Centre 42 in Singapore. Nabilah is a former arts correspondent and critic for The Straits Times and has six years of experience as a communications professional with the Singapore Art Museum, National Heritage Board and various creative agencies. Her short stories and poems have been published in anthologies by Math Paper Press and Ethos Books.
Safuan Johari is a Singaporean sound designer and music producer. In the realm of sound design, he has worked on various multimedia art installations and performance productions. He has also composed and produced music for theatre, dance and film. Safuan is constantly reimagining the spectres of the cultural past through digital and technological lenses. Safuan first scored an audio-visual piece more than a decade ago and recently, he has been exploring visualising his own sounds. This called for a dive into the realm of generative art and he has been creating autonomous or predetermined systems to generate sonic compositions that will modulate the motions of a visual form. Safuan has exhibited and performed in Beijing, Paris, London and New York. In Singapore, he has showcased works for Singapore Night Festival, i-Light Marina Bay, Singapore International Festival of Arts and Singapore Fringe Festival. Safuan is also part of NADA, a visual arts and sound project that summons hauntological soundscapes and seeks lost futures.

An educator, a writer, and a multi-disciplinary arts practitioner, Zulfadli Rashid, or ‘Big’ as he is known to his peers, has explored diverse issues pertaining to the Singaporean person in his works. Zulfadli was the resident playwright of Panggung Arts (2008-2012) and has written and adapted numerous plays staged by various companies and freelance performers presented in various notable arts festivals. Besides playwriting, he also dabbles in poetry recitals and performance art when such opportunities arise.
