Serving as a platform for distinguished art and cultural historians to explore new modes of enquiry, this series invites scholars whose works have contributed to the reframing of canonical understandings of art’s histories. The inaugural lecture features Homi K. Bhabha, one of the most important figures in postcolonial studies, as he explores the intertwined histories of colonialism and modernity, and their implications for narratives of art history.
Homi K. Bhabha is the Anne F. Rothenberg Professor of the Humanities at Harvard University, and one of the most important figures in contemporary post-colonial studies. He has authored numerous seminal works exploring postcolonial theory, cultural change and power, contemporary art, and cosmopolitanism, including Nation and Narration and The Location of Culture.
