Firdaus Sani is a 4th-generation Orang Laut descendant whose ancestry can be traced to the Orang Pulau of Singapore and the Riau Islands. He advocates for indigenous voices and believes that indigenous knowledge and history should be included in Singapore’s mainstream education. Firdaus and his family’s photographs and personal anecdotes of life on the island have also been featured in various media channels.
Teo Hui Min is a curator at National Gallery Singapore, where she contributes to the curation of Siapa-Nama Kamu? and Beyond Declarations and Dreams, long-term exhibitions of Singapore and Southeast Asian art from the 19th century to the present. Other exhibitions she has co-curated include Mohammad Din Mohammad: The Mistaken Ancestor (2021), Georgette Chen: At Home in the World (2020) and Lim Cheng Hoe: Painting Singapore (2018).
