Following its 10th anniversary, National Gallery Singapore has reimagined its iconic logo as functional benches for people to sit, gather and connect. In Jan 2026, ten sets of Gallery Benches will be placed at iconic locations across Singapore, before returning to the Gallery in Feb 2026 as resting spots for visitors. These iconic Gallery Benches are now available for adoption individually or as a pair. By adopting a bench, your generosity will support our work to make the arts accessible for all. All adopters will receive recognition through a customised donor plaque.

Diplomacy and Desire: Basoeki Abdullah in Singapore

Once described as "the Rembrandt of the East," Basoeki Abdullah (1915‒1993) achieved international fame when he won an art contest held for the coronation of Queen Juliana of Amsterdam in 1948. His artworks can be found in national collections across Southeast Asia. The exhibition invites us to consider the “power” of art in postcolonial Southeast Asia and to see this prominent portraitist anew.

This is home (for the arts) truly 🏛️🇸🇬 As the excitement of National Day preparations buzzes just outside our doors at the Padang, we’re taking a step indoors to slow down in the Gallery. Formerly known as the Supreme Court and City Hall, these two national monuments make a serene and beautiful home for our many artworks. Been meaning to visit? Come by and soak up the stories, art and history that lie within our walls. ‼️The Gallery will be closed on 8-10 August due to NDP preparations. We’ll be back to our usual daily hours, 10am to 7pm, right after!

Happy one year and a little bit more to this amazing pair! 🤪 Hahaha this set has been sitting in my to-post pile for way too long but here we are! This wedding was such a super chill one that we literally had a "pre-wedding" shoot prior to the dinner. 👋 After a 9-year run, the Gallery’s first ever exhibition, “Siapa Nama Kamu? Art in Singapore since the 19th Century”, will be closing its doors. Featuring pieces from our National Collection, the show poses the question “Siapa Nama Kamu?” or “What is your name?”, inviting us to look at Singapore through its art. The show tells the rich and captivating history of the nation through the years, and it’s been incredible seeing the exhibition through your eyes. Meet the Wild Child, a young boy who is wild about nature. From tiny animals to ginormous plants, his quest is to protect and care for them all. One day, he spots a gloomy scene that tells the story of a wild tale where animals are being chased by flames to the edge of a cliff. Full of zeal and hope, the Wild Child uses his wildly creative ideas to change the ending of the tale.
